Job Description

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will provide sound technical leadership in all aspects of our business. You will communicate with employees, other executives, stakeholders, and customers to ensure that technology is used appropriately, monitoring the use and implementation of existing technologies as well as performing research on new technologies that could enhance the business.

Strategic thinking and strong business acumen are essential in this role. We expect you to be well-versed in current technological trends and familiar with a variety of business concepts. If you are also an excellent communicator and public speaker, we’d like to meet you.

The CTO will work directly under the CEO and will act as both a technology and business expert, making decisions that will impact the current and future operations of the company.!

Responsibilities:

• Setting a vision for how technology will be used in the company.

• Creating timelines for the development and deployment of all technological services.

• Making executive decisions on behalf of the company’s technological requirements.

• Acting as a mentor to team members.

• Maintaining a consumer-focused outlook and aiding in the delivery of IT projects to market.

• Managing technology budgets and time frames.

• Staying on top of technology trends and developments.

• Ensuring all technology practices adhere to regulatory standards.

• Develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with its business goals.

• Discover and implement new technologies that yield a competitive advantage.

• Help departments use technology profitably.

• Supervise system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency.

• Monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance.

• Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology.

• Communicate technology strategy to partners and investors company.

• Lead the strategy for technology platforms, partnerships, and external relationships.

• Represent the technological agenda in staff meetings and when making hiring decisions.

• Identify, compare, select, and implement technology solutions to meet current and future needs.

• Develop, track, and control the development of annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations.

• Manage and optimize infrastructure assets to satisfy internal financial targets.

• Create overall technology standards and practices and ensure adherence.

• Consolidate our technology platforms and create plans for each.

• Track, analyze, and monitor ALL OEM partnerships. 

• Oversee ALL system design and changes in system architecture.

• Take the initiative in thought leadership, innovation, and creativity.

• Work closely with Marketing, Business Development, and Operations to define and deliver new products and enhancements as well as produce proposals and responses to customer requests.

• Work closely with every other department (Finance, Audit, Supply Chain, HR, Bids, Contract, Project management, etc) to mediate and clear bottlenecks between different teams.

• Work closely with the Bids, Contract, and Project management team to deliver their outcome

• Present reports on the company’s technology status, goals, and or progress.

• Create and implement technology strategies.

• Align the company’s technology resources with the organization’s short- and long-term goals.

• Serve on the executive committee to align technology goals to other departmental and organizational objectives.

• Identify what technologies can be used to improve the company’s products and services.

• Create and oversee high-level KPIs for IT department.

• Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training IT managers.

• Manage the department’s budget.

• Must possess vast technology experience across o Enterprise Infrastructure [Physical Layer, Switching, Routing, Wireless]

o Security

o Collaboration

o Data Centre technologies [Compute, Storage, Virtualization, Containerization, Orchestration]

o Infrastructure Programmability and Automation Skills

o Enterprise Software – especially Microsoft LSP experience

o Cloud – Azure, AWS 

Requirements:

• BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or other relevant graduate degree is a plus.

• Over 8 years working in a highly versatile and technological role.

• 5 years of managerial experience.

• Advanced technological skillset and a demonstrated history with technology.

• Exceptional team management skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication.

• Ability to delegate efficiently.

• Extensive industry knowledge with an eye toward the future.

• Knowledge of technological trends to build a strategy.

• Understanding of budgets and business planning.

• Ability to conduct technological analyses and research.
